Tropical Bird on a Branch

Who doesn’t think that these beautiful birds are majestic with that big beak and those colours covering their body? What? Don’t you see the colours? That’s true, this drawing has no colours characteristic of this flying animal, but that was the challenge: drawing something that originally was full of colours into a monochromatic version that brings out as much as the original. For this, I have used a simple pencil and a mechanical pencil. When we do a black and white drawing it is not enough to reproduce the model, we have to work on shades, but also on lights, to give some volume and have the relief effect. That’s why I don’t think that I will do a coloured version of this piscivore, even if it’s tempting!
